Chapter 5: COMPARATIVE EXPRESSIONS WITH POSSESIVE PRONOUNS

  • Possesive pronouns are nouns that indicate possesion. Unlike possesive adjectives, they are used alone without a noun following.
      POSSESIVE                         POSSESIVE
      ADJ. + NOUN                    PRONOUN

      My dog                               mine
      His novel                             his
      Her pronunciation                 hers
      Our apartment                     ours
      Your computer                     yours
      Their house                         theirs

  • To emphasize a comparison, much is placed before the comparative.
EX:     Yours is much friendlier than mine.
(Your dog is much friendlier than mine.)

Ours are much more interesting than his.

(Our books are much more interesting than his.)
